2023/24 Ghana Premier League Week 8: Match Report – Hearts of Oak 3-1 Medeama

Accra Hearts of Oak got back to winning ways against champions Medeama SC in their match week eight game which was played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Phobians had played four games without a win, they drew three and lost one. Medeama had won three games and lost one.

Before the clash Hearts of Oak was in 16th place with six points while Medeama occupied the eighth spot in the standings.

Hamza Issah retained his place in the starting lineup of the Accra based club.

The home side took the lead through Appiah Kubi's own goal in the 7th minute. In the 17th minute, Hamza Issah extended Accra Hearts of Oak's lead to 2-0.

Medeama SC fought back and scored in the 21st minute through Godknows Dzakpasu. Hamza Issah scored his second goal in the 34th minute to make it 3-1.

In the 71st minute, a quick counter attack from the Phobians nearly added the 4th goal to the score.

The victory propels Accra Hearts of Oak to the 12th position while Medeama drops to 10th place.
