Black Princesses coach, Yussif Basigi, has expressed confidence in his team's ability to secure a victory against Tanzania and elevate their performance from their previous match against Ethiopia.
In their opening game, Ghana struggled to a narrow 1-0 win, failing to capitalize on several opportunities. However, Basigi remains optimistic about their upcoming encounter with Tanzania.
"We are determined to deliver a stronger performance than our first match. Playing the initial game at home, in front of our fans, presents its challenges," Basigi commented.
Acknowledging Tanzania's quality as opponents with their distinctive style of play, Basigi emphasized the importance of tactical preparation. Drawing from past experiences against formidable teams like Senegal in the World Cup qualifiers, Basigi believes Ghana possesses the tactical prowess to overcome physical opponents like Tanzania.
"In competitions like this, it's not always about scoring numerous goals but rather about strategic play to secure victories. While we aim to capitalize on scoring opportunities, we've also focused on improving our conversion rate during training," Basigi added.
Providing a positive update on Maafia Nyame's injury sustained in the previous match, Basigi confirmed her readiness for the upcoming game after participating in training sessions.
"Maafia Nyame has recovered well from her injury and has trained with the team. Our medical team has given her the green light, affirming her fitness for the match," Basigi stated.
The Black Princesses are set to face Tanzania at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 20:00Hrs.
