2024 FIFA U20 Women’s WCQ: Black Princesses beat Senegal 2-0 in first leg encounter of final round

Published on: 13 January 2024

The Black Princesses of Ghana are one step away from securing qualification for the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

This follows a 2-0 win for the Ghana U20 Women’s national team over their Senegalese counterparts on Saturday, January 13.

The two national teams locked horns today in the first leg of the final round of the qualifiers for the mundial.

In a game played at the Thies Stade Lat Dior in Senegal, the Black Princesses dominated play in the first half and killed the contest in the first 10 minutes.

Talented attacker Tracy Twum scored in the 5th minute with a well-taken strike to open the scoring for Ghana.

Just two minutes later, she was on the end of a very good chance and made no mistake but scored to double the lead for the Black Princesses.

Although Senegal will recover from the poor start to play well, Ghana held on to secure an important 2-0 win away from home.

The Black Princesses will host the second leg of the tie on Sunday, January 21.
