President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has urged the Black Queens to strive to do well at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.

The Black Queens after a 3-2 aggregate victory over Namibia have qualified to compete at the next WAFCON having missed out on the last two editions.

After welcoming the Black Queens to Ghana on Thursday, December 7, Kurt Okraku charged the Black Queens to go to next year’s tournament and give the rest of Africa a showdown.

“We have been to the WAFCON before even though this is a milestone because in five years we have not been there, qualifying alone is not enough.

"This is the time for us to give the rest of Africa a showdown,” Kurt Okraku said.

He continued, “Our best position at the AFCON has been second place years ago but we have enough quality in this team to be African champions, he added.

“Whatever it takes for us to get you prepared for the AFCON in Morocco with the support of Asantewaa the fearless we will make sure this team is ready” President Simeon-Okraku added.

Meanwhile, Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle has applauded the determination shown by her team to qualify for the 2024 WAFCON.
