2026 World Cup qualifiers: Henry Asante Twum charges Black Stars to improve their performance ahead of Madagascar and Comoros games

The senior national team, the Black Stars have been cautioned to improve their performance ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The recent performance of the Black Stars have been questioned following their defeat in the friendly games.

Ghana lost 2-0 against Mexico before a humiliating 4-0 defeat to the US Men’s national team earlier this month.

With the Mundial qualifiers coming up next month in November, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has cautioned the playing body to improve their performance.

According to him, it is about time the players exhibit seriousness ahead of the games.

“Ahead of the World Cup qualifiers, we must let the players understand that these are not friendly games but crucial games for a crucial tournament in 2016.

“When I look at the spirit we played with against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoffs, I have not seen that spirit again in recent times, to be honest.

“I have closely been associated with the team for four years but sometimes in going to matches, you could see the seriousness from the players but for some time now, I have not seen that and I think it is about time we remind them that Ghanaians are not happy and we have told the players “that Ghanaians deserve better and the best way to respond is to win the two games against Madagascar and the Comoros,” he added.

The Black Stars will host Madagascar in their Group I opener before travelling to face Comoros.
