Aduana coach Fabin fears Yahaya Mohammed might lose form amid COVID-19 break

Aduana Stars head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin fears that the absence of competitions and supervised training would affect Yahaya Mohammed's impressive form when football finally returns.

Mohammed has been one of the standout players in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League - scoring 11 goals in 15 matches before the suspension of football activities.

The 32-year-old, whose performances earned him a call-up to the Black Stars for the suspended 2021 Afcon qualifiers is second on the top goalscorers chart.

"What matters is definitely, I think his level will drop because the training programs he was undergoing in terms of goal scoring, I don’t think he can run it now," the former Asante Kotoko gaffer told Happy FM.

"He might try it on his own but it won’t be that effective.

"So if we start the league again, he will take time to reach his peak levels, I expect there to be a drop but it will rise again," he concluded.

The President of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo has extended the ban on sporting activities to July 31, however, the FA has set June 30 as the date they decide the future of the league.

The Premier League was at its match week 15 stage when it was halted with Aduana Stars leading the table with 28 points.

The Football Association proposed weekly testing of all players and also training in smaller groups but did not meet the expectation of the government.
