Aduana is the team to beat - Albert Commey

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aduana Stars, Albert Commey, has lauded the effort of the technical team and playing body of the club, saying consistency combined with experience is what has kept them going so far.

“Traditionally, we are not a side that allow a lot of players to leave at the end of every season and so we try to blend the experience of the existing players with the young ones, who we introduce into the team gradually, and I believe that is what has kept us going”, Commey told the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday.

Citing the exit of Yahaya Mohammed as an example, Mr Commey said: “ What makes the team’s performance consistent also depends on the department, because the moment we realised Yahaya would be leaving, we brought in Nathaniel Asamoah. We also have Derrick Sasraku and Bright Adjei, young players who are slowly coming into the picture”.

Mr Commey expressed appreciation to the owner of the club, Nana Agyeman Badu, for his unflinching support and continued motivation for the boys with respect to bonuses and other incentives and said Aduana Stars would not be complacent.

According to him, Aduana were very much aware of threats from some of the traditional clubs in particular and, therefore, it was taking every match as and when it came.

“We respect every club but it is early days yet and we are not going to be complacent”, he pointed out, saying the team would continue to work hard and keep playing as a unit to achieve their ultimate objective.

Meanwhile, Aduana Stars have expressed shock at the alleged manhandling of a journalist at the Nana Agyeman Badu park during their match against Accra Hearts of Oak last Sunday.

A statement signed by the CEO, Albert Commey, yesterday said, “the management of the Dormaa-based club wish to state categorically that we are unaware of such incident and have not sanctioned the beating of any journalist before, during and after the match.

“The club, therefore, condemn any such act if it occurred at the blind side of officials of Aduana Stars” and added that “Aduana Stars are a responsible club and we are working with the GFA to get to the bottom of the case if, indeed, it occured to bring the perpetrators to book”.

The statement further urged the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) to advise its members to identify themselves properly at league centres.
