Pablo Zabaleta Claims Man City Won't Park the Bus at Monaco

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has insisted his team will not go to Monaco just to defend, despite their two-goal lead and with his fellow back line being in the firing line for the amount of goals they have conceded, via theMirror.

The City defence had been criticised for their poor performances and large number of goals conceded against Chelsea, Everton and Leicester, as well as Monaco scoring three in the first leg.

With Pep Guardiola requiring his teams to play out from the back, there is always an added element of danger, but City's last few results have silenced the critics.

Their clean sheet against Middlesbrough was a club record six in a row when playing away and they have only leaked five goals in their eight matches.

Right back Zabaleta was pleased with the results and stated: For defenders, this is good. It brings confidence. We know in some periods of the season we were conceding too many goals.

So when you have a clean sheet it is important because we know we have enough quality to score goals and win matches.

But Zabaleta has confirmed that City will not change how they play and will still look to score goals: We're not going to change our style of play, said the Argentinian. This is the way we've been playing and it would be a big mistake if we went to Monaco to defend.

We're a team who needs to play to win, that's the best way to go through to the next round of the Champions League.

Zabaleta has been with City for years now,as they rose to becoming one of the best clubs in England and wants his side to make the next step in the Champions League by reaching the final: We want to keep progressing as a team and as a club. Last season we reached the Champions League semi-finals and we want to be there with the best in Europe.
