AFCON 2021 Qualifiers: Ghana’s second meeting with South Africa postponed due to Covid-19

Published on: 21 April 2020

Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against South Africa has been postponed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The two countries have been pitted in Group C of the AFCON tournament which has been scheduled for 2021 alongside Sudan, as well as Sao Tome and Principe.

In the first meeting between the Black Stars and the Bafana Bafana, it was the former who emerged victories with a 2-0 home win at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The second meeting between the countries was set to be played in South Africa on June 6 but due to the Coronavirus pandemic situation, it has been postponed.

This comes in line with CAF's decision to call off all qualifying matches as a precautionary measure to protect the stakeholders of the game.

Already, Ghana's double-header with Sudan has been postponed and will only be played when the COVID-19 storm passes.
