Afriyie Barnieh has lost focus; he needs to be advised – Charles Taylor

Former Ghana international, Charles Taylor has given his assessment of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh after watching him in the game against Congo at the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Speaking to Angel TV, Taylor said he believes the former Hearts of Oak star has lost focus on the field of play.

Charles Taylor believes that the forward must be advised and psyched to get back to his old form.

"He has lost focus on the field. If he doesn't get a good psychologist to psych him well he would even be worse than what we are seeing. You can just compare his previous performances to now, he could even be worse than Adiyiah," Charles Taylor shared.

Taylor continued, "Adiyiah's situation is even better. How many matches has Afriyie Barnieh managed to play since he switched to FC Zurich? Let's ask ourselves, what happened to him when he got to Zurich. He needs to be advised on focusing on moving forward and stop living on past glories. He is now starting which is why he needs to do more.”

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh started for the Ghana U23 team in the Group A clash against the Congo U23 national team on Sunday.

After failing to impress, he was substituted at halftime.

Emmanuel Yeboah who replaced him scored a brace and assisted the opening goal to lead the Black Meteors to a 3-2 win.
