Allegri: Juventus signed Cristiano Ronaldo because he’s decisive

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri lauded Cristiano Ronaldo, calling the Portuguese striker “the best” after his lone goal saw the Bianconeri past AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana.

Ronaldo netted the only marker of the game, as the Old Lady kicked off 2019 with the first of what they hope will be many trophies.

Allegri will be confident of securing more with Ronaldo in his ranks, as he pointed out Juventus signed the striker to make a difference in the big games.

“We always say the same thing,” he told Rai Sport. “We signed him for this. He is the best player and always scores.

“He moved well prior to the goal as well, though the entire time played a great game.

“It was an enjoyable game with several chances. The players approached the match in the best way possible.

“Milan played well and caused us problems, though we could have done more to close the match given we had an extra man.”

While Ronaldo was the key player, Paulo Dybala had an off match – something Allegri wasn’t worried by.

“He did his best and gave us a hand,” he added. “He could have shot on goal on several occasions, but they closed him well.

“However he did great, like when he had his goal called back.”
