American United Soccer League side Phoenix Rising have mutually terminated the contract of Ghanaian midfielder Gladson Awako, according to reports.

The 28-year-old joined the Arizona-based side on a one-year deal in 2017 after ending his four-year stay with Congolese giants Tout Puissant Mazembe.

Awako made 30 appearances in all competitions for the side but mostly as a substitute, scoring once and registering five assists in the process - which was the club's third best in the campaign.

During the transfer window, the former Berekum Chelsea midfielder was heavily reported to be heading the exit following his inability command a regular starting berth but the club decided to keep him by handing him another one year deal in November 2018.

However, reports in the media indicate that his contract has been rescinded by the club though no reason was given over the decision.

He previously played for Ghanaian clubs including Berekum Arsenals, All-Stars, Heart of Lions and Real Sportive prior to joining TP Mazembe.
