Any player who has reached the peak of their career is because of the Black Stars - Sam George

Ningo Prampram Member of Parliament Samuel Nartey George believes any Ghanaian player who has reached the peak of their careers is because of the influence of the Black Stars.

The NDC Parliamentarian is questioning the commitment of the players toward the team as he sees it as a privilege for any player to be selected to represent Ghana.

There have been significant criticisms of the commitment of the players recently, and has intensified after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group stage exit.

“Why should anybody get the of opportunity of 33 million people and we have given you one of 11 jerseys to wear for the Black Stars and you’ll say if we don’t give you 10,000 or 30,000 dollars you won’t play?” George questioned on Asempa.

“Any Ghanaian player who has reached the apogee of his game is because of the Black Stars.”

Ghana missed out on a place in the Round of 16 after finishing third in a group consisting of Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.

The Black Stars lost 2-1 to Cape Verde before back to back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique confirmed Ghana’s elimination from the tournament.

The Black Stars, for the second successive tournament, exited at the group stages without registering a win, extending the country's wait for its fifth AFCON title to 42 years.
