However, when the case was called on Friday, Snodgrass was nowhere to be seen and upon the request of the Crown, a warrant has now been granted byJP Eunice Paton.

The incident that led to the charge is understood to have taken place on 17 April 2016, when Snodgrass was caught driving a car in Glasgow that was allegedly too full to have a baby seat in it.

The baby is understood to have been in the arms of a rear passenger instead and having assumed responsibility of thevehicle, the Hammers' midfielder was the one subsequently charged by police.

When asked why his client was not present at the trial,Snodgrass' defence lawyer Martin Black is understood to have told the court the footballer"didn't think he had to be".

West Ham have yet to comment on the matter, though it is not thought that this latest development will affect Snodgrass' availabilityfor Monday night's home meeting with London rivals Chelsea.
