Arsenal Defender Believes Gunners Can Still Catch Chelsea Despite Huge 12-Point Deficit

Arsenal can still catch Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title despite the whopping 12-point gap between the two clubs - that is the belief of their optimistic stardefender,Shkodran Mustafi.

The German international is not worried about the fact that there is only 14 games left to play in the Premier League, and has claimed that Chelsea can still be caught.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I think it's going to be more difficult than it was before but I'm a believer. I don't give up.As long as it's possible we're going to fight for it, and in the end we will see and if we're lucky enough and good enough to go for it or not.

"The first game we lost at home [to Watford] was really disappointing. We woke up a bit late, conceded two quick goals and it was difficult to come back.

The Gunners could have made amends for the shock defeat to Watford on January 31 by beating Chelsea on Saturday and cutting the deficit to six points, but a limp display saw them lose the crucial game 3-1.

Reflecting on the Stamford Bridge clash, Mustafi added: "We were disappointed as well with losing at Chelsea, which was a completely different game. We knew it would be difficult at Stamford Bridge, but we knew as well it's possible to win. I think in the end we didn't do enough."

Mustafi, a £35m summer signing from Spanish club Valencia, has largely performed well at the back for Arsenal this season, having forged agood partnership with Laurent Koscielny.

Given how the well the Blues are playing under Antonio Conte in their 3-4-3 system, it is certainly looking like misplaced confidence on the part of the German for now.
