Arsenal Given Timely Boost as Hector Bellerin Steps Up Recovery From Injury

Published on: 24 November 2016

Arsenal have been handed a massive injury boost following the newsthat full back Hector Bellerin is set to return to light training next week, reportedThe Sun.

Bellerin was initially ruled out for four weeks after a strong tackle from Tottenham's Danny Rose in the 1-1 derby draw earlier this month, though fears had grown that the Spaniard could be put on the shelf for as long as two-and-a-half months. The latest however is that Bellerin is well on track to recover in time to return for the busy Christmas period of fixtures.

The 21-year-old has recently penned a new six-year contract with the Gunners worth around £100,000-a-week, and has morphed into one of the club's most crucial first team players and one of the first names on the team sheet.

He will begin running at London Colney early next week and will link back up with the first team squad a week later, as he looks to step up his recovery and get back in to action.

Upon signing his new deal recently, despite interest from Barcelona and Manchester City, Bellerin claimed that Arsenal has long been the club he wants to play for and he's delighted to be staying.

A lot has changed since I first joined the club. This is my home. The club who gave me my first opportunity. #COYG https://t.co/dxgQeAPvZC pic.twitter.com/xB47EmcOTS

He said:"I just wanted to say that I've signed my new deal with the club, so I'm really happy. As you know I've been here a long time and feel like this is my home and that it was the right thing for me to do.

"I'm very happy to still be a Gunner for many more years. It's a really big day for me."
