Arsenal Star Insists Players Support Arsene Wenger '100%' as Confusion Over Future Continues

Published on: 03 March 2017

Arsenal centre forward Olivier Giroud has thrown his weight behind the "Wenger In" campaign after admitting he would love to see his manager sign a new contract with the Gunners.

Wenger, in his 21st year as Arsenal boss, has yet to re-sign with the London club and has admitted that he is currently deciding on what to do with himself next season.

His deal expires in June, and the Frenchman recently revealed he will make his decision in March or April over whether to actually stay on.

That does depend on the club's decision too of course, although it has been reported that Wenger has the option of penning a two-year renewal if he so wishes. The likes of Massimiliano Allegri and Thomas Tuchel are apparently being lined up as potential replacements for Wenger should he decide to leave, but Giroud has made his stance on the matter clear.

Speaking to French Radio Station RMC, he said:Obviously, he is someone who brought the club to where it is today, who has made it one of the best in Europe.

We are supporting him 100%, it is not like today we would just jump ship or turn our backs. The players, we are the first ones concerned, we are the first affected.

I hope, like my colleagues, that the coach will stay because I am convinced that we are not missing much in order to win the Premier League.

Wenger and Giroud have travelled to Merseyside ahead of Saturday evening's crunch Premier League clash with Liverpool, with the loser falling behind inthe race forPremier League's top four.
