Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC have strongly denounced the reprehensible behavior exhibited by some of its supporters during their Ghana Premier League Matchday 23 clash defeat to Nations FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday night.

A number of the club’s fans invaded the pitch at half-time in the 1-0 loss to their city rivals and were seen stopping the match officials from going into the dressing room at the break.

This has caused the Ghana Football Association’s disciplinary committee to charge the club and had given them up to Wednesday to respond to the charges.

Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee released a statement and condemned the actions of the fans, emphasizing that such actions are completely contrary to the values upheld by this esteemed institution.

“Asante Kotoko SC condemns the detestable conduct of some persons whose actions yesterday in our Premier League Matchday 23 against Nations FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium went contrary to what this prestigious club stands for,” the statement said.

“It must be noted that under no circumstance will Asante Kotoko condone any act that violates and undermines the sporting integrity of the game.”

Kotoko said it had already taken measures by collaborating with the Ghana Football Association to address the issue and ensure a lasting resolution.

Furthermore, Asante Kotoko called upon the GFA to address various concerns such as officiating standards, safety protocols, and overall security measures to safeguard the integrity of football at all levels.
