Asante Kotoko pays tribute to the late Christian Atsu

Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko has reacted to the sad news of the passing of winger Christian Atsu. 

Atsu was confirmed dead in the early hours of Saturday morning after being trapped under rubble for 12 days.

The Turkish agent of the Ghanaian star revealed that rescue workers discovered the body of the former Chelsea and Newcastle player after days of searching the building where he lived.

"Christian Atsu found and sadly passed away," he wrote.

Asante Kotoko took to its official Twitter account to tweet: "Everyone at Asante Kotoko is saddened by the demise of Christian Atsu. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to his family and football fraternity."

Atsu played for various European clubs, such as Chelsea, FC Porto, Newcastle United, Everton, and Bournemouth.

Atsu joined Hatayaspor in September of last year, and just hours before the natural disaster that claimed over 45,000 lives, he scored his first goal for the club on Sunday, February 5.
