Asante Kotoko will struggle to avenge the 4-0 defeat against Hearts- Amankwah Mireku

Former Hearts of Oak captain Amankwah Mireku says it will be difficult for Asante Kotoko to avenge the 4-0 defeat against the Phobians.

The Porcupine Warriors suffered the highest defeat in the Super Clash back in March 2000.

Goals from Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor, Kenneth Sarpong and Ishmael Addo’s brace propelled the Phobians to secure a massive win over their rivals.

Kotoko’s highest ever win against their Hearts of Oak was a 3-0 win in 1980, so the 4-0 victory gives the Accra giants the bragging right.

Speaking ahead of the Super Clash this Sunday, Amankwah Mireku, a member of the squad that demolished the Kotoko at the time insists it will be tough for the Kumasi-based club to avenge the result.

“Honestly, Asante Kotoko will struggle to avenge the 4-0 defeat. In 2006, they came close to equaling such heavy defeat in the Super Clash but I made sure they don’t succeed”

“The 4-0 defeat is written on wall and it will be tough for Kotoko to wipe it off. I think they must think off avenging it in the next world” he said.

Asante Kotoko will welcome Hearts of Oak to the Baba Yara Stadium in matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
