Ashanti Gold SC midfielder Kwadwo Amoako earns late Black Stars call-up for Sudan double header

Ashanti Gold SC midfielder Kwadwo Amoako has been handed a late Black Stars call-up ahead of the upcoming 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.

Amoako becomes the third player from the Ghana Premier League to earn a call-up after Prince Adu Kwabena of Bechem United and Christopher Nettey from Asante Kotoko.

He was one of the consistent players for the Miners in the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season where he featured in 14 games.

This is the second time he's being called-up to the senior national team by coach CK Akonnor, having been named in the 23-man squad to face the same opponent in March, but the qualifiers were cancelled due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Ghana will host Sudan at the Cape Coast stadium on Thursday, November 12, before travelling to Khartoum to face the Falcons five days later in the reverse fixture.

Ghana top Group C with 6 points following victories against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in November 2019.
