Ghana Premier League side, Obuasi Ashanti Gold has been given a huge boost ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup second leg tie against Akonangui FC following the return of Appiah McCarthy and Amos Nkrumah from injury.

The two top players could not make the trip to Equatorial Guinea last weekend after suffering various injuries. The match ended 1-1 with the Miners highly in contention to progress to the next qualifying round.

They just need to avoid defeat or maintain a goalless scoreline at the end of 90 minutes in order to boot out their opponent.

Ahead of the crucial tie, the Obuasi based club have two of their top players returning from injury to give them a massive boost. Dangerous attackers Appiah McCarthy and Amos Nkrumah have both joined their teammates to train and will be available to feature for the side when they host the Equatorial Guinea side.

A statement from Ashantigold in the last 24 hours read, “Appiah McCarthy and Amos Kofi Nkrumah have recovered from a knee problem and a boil respectively”.

The second leg has been slated for August 24, 2019, at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
