Former goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has revealed that AshantiGold SC's decision to constantly increase his salary warded off clubs from securing his services.
Dauda spent eight years at the Miners during his first stint with the club between 2006 and 2013 before returning for a second spell from 2014 to 2016.
Dauda, following his impressive performance in his initial time with the club, was a target for several clubs in the country and on the continent.
However, any move away from AshGold failed to materialise.
According to him, the club used constant increments in his salary as a means of ensuring he continued his role at the Len Clay Stadium.
"Anytime a new club wanted me, AshGold always said they wouldn't let me go," said Dauda, who now works as Black Stars' goalkeeper's trainer told Joy Sports.
"They increased my salary, and I always ended up staying."
The former Legon Cities goalkeeper also revealed he made a good investment from the money he received during his days with the Miners.
"The first house I built was from AshGold, a four-bedroom apartment.
"At that time, if you were disciplined, you could do things with the money from the Ghana Premier League," he added.
After ending his first stint, Dauda joined Orlando Pirates before moving to Chippa United.
