Aspire talent-hunt begins tomorrow
Capt. Andy Sam-Country Director of Aspire

The annual Aspire Football Dreams which seeks to give opportunities to young talents kickstarts at the El-Wak Stadium from tomorrow to October 7.

The programme, which has been in existence for the past 10 years, will witness the first and second selection exercises in this year’s edition tomorrow before the finals from October 11 to 14.

The selected players will compete in the continental finals slated for Dakar, Senegal, in January next year.

Speaking at a launch in Accra last Tuesday, the Country Director of Aspire, Capt. Andy Sam, explained that players to be unearthed would have a chance to become professionals in Europe.

He added that his outfit is committed to helping talented young footballers to realise their dreams of becoming professional footballers.

He, however, lamented why players unearthed through the programme are not considered by the various national teams.

A former Executive Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kudjoe Fianoo, who represented the association, acknowledged the good work done by Aspire and assured that his outfit would consider the players into the national teams.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, lauded the initiative of Aspire and called for more of such academies in the country to help groom upcoming footballers.
