Assessing GFA based on performances of Black Stars wrong - Bechem United CEO

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Kingsley Osei Bonsu, widely known as Lord Zico, has emphasized that evaluating the performance of the GFA solely based on the outcomes of the Black Stars is an incorrect approach.

Lord Zico made these remarks in an interview with Citi Sports, just prior to his re-election as an Executive Council member during the recently concluded GFA Elections held in Tamale.

While Ghana's national team, the Black Stars, are gearing up for international friendly matches against Mexico and the USA on October 15 and October 18 respectively, Lord Zico stressed the need to consider the broader scope of the GFA's responsibilities.

"People assess the performance of the GFA based on the performance of the Black Stars and I don’t think is the best because if I am an administrator, I do what is expected of me as far as putting the Black Stars into good shape as far as a pending match is concerned," he asserted.

“If they go to the field and they are not able to perform, it’s difficult to tell me that as an administrator I didn’t do my best so I find it difficult to accept that blame being put on the administrators.”

Lord Zico, who also serves as the CEO of Bechem United, successfully retained his seat on the Executive Council, alongside three other incumbent members.
