Aston Villa bid to make Jeffrey Schlupp third Ghanaian at club

Aston Villa want to sign Leicester City winger Jeffrey Schlupp, according to the Sun.

However, the Villans and their coach Steve Bruce face an uphill task to sign the £12m rated winger, with Premier League West Brom also interested in the powerful 23-year-old.

Schlupp was a regular last season for Claudio Ranieri’s title winning side, but has this season failed to command a regular place in the starting line-up on a consistent basis.

This has opened the door for a potential move away from the King Power Stadium, and West Brom and Aston Villa would both like to add Schlupp to their squad.

Schlupp broke through into the Leicester first team a couple of seasons ago as a striker, but has since found himself dropping further back, and spent most of his time last term playing as a left back or left winger.

It is this versatility though which makes him such an eye catching potential transfer for clubs in January, and both Tony Pulis and Steve Bruce will see bags of potential in him.

If Villa are successful with their bid, Schlupp will become the third Ghanaian at the club, joining Jordan Ayew and Albert Adomah.
