Athletic Bilbao have reportedly targeted Sporting Braga forward Alvaro Djalo as replacement for Spanish international of Ghanaian descent Nico Williams.

With just under eight months left on his contract with Bilbao, the winger's renewal negotiations have hit a standstill, leaving both the club's management and fans exasperated.

Williams’ situation at San Mames remains unclear as the winter transfer window approaches. The growing interest of giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona makes the situation even more complicated for the winger, who must make a quick decision for the team's maneuver.

Athletic Club are aware of the situation at hand and are preparing for life after the Spanish international winger. Ernesto Valverde’s outfit has already shown interest in Álvaro Djaló as a potential replacement.

Djalo, born in Madrid but raised on Basque soil, is enjoying an amazing season in the Portuguese top-flight as well as the Champions League. Although, his side are struggling in the UEFA elite competition but he’s being able to managed some goals for his outfit.

Athletic Club is closely monitoring Djaló's movements in the transfer market, but negotiations are expected to be protracted due to his high price tag, extended contract with Sporting de Braga until June 30, 2027.
