Atl. Madrid board in support of Thomas Partey’s imminent summer departure

Footballghana.com can report that the a section of the board of Atletico Madrid is backing the summer transfer of Thomas Partey as they hope to use the funds from his sale to mitigate the financial burden presented to the club as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

The Ghanaian international is a transfer target of a host of top European clubs with English Premier League side Arsenal leading the race to secure his services.

Though Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone wants to keep the combative midfielder at the club, the latest reports coming in indicates that a section of the club’s board wants the player to be transferred for the cash.

Apparently, the Rojiblancos have been massively hit by the Covid-19 crisis storm financially.

The board members in favor of Partey’s sale believe it is the right time to cash in on a player whose value has risen in the last few years.

According to Cadena COPE, the board members in question wants the player to be sold to Arsenal if they are willing to pay his release clause of £44.5.

The EPL side is determined to bring Thomas Partey to the Emirates stadium in the summer transfer window and are even willing to triple his current wage in Spain to make the deal happen.

Other clubs interested in signing the Black Stars asset are Manchester United, PSG, Inter Milan, Juventus, as well as AS Roma.
