Atletico Madrid set to soften stance on Thomas Partey

Published on: 27 August 2020

According to Express, Atletico Madrid may soften their demands for Thomas Partey due to their imminent transfer of Marc Roca from Espanyol.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Gunners for some months now with Arsenal reportedly agreeing personal terms with the player. However, Atletico Madrid have been demanding for his 50 million euro release clause to be paid.

Arsenal have not been able to trigger it yet due to the negative effects of COVID-19 and have been searching for a way to get Partey at a reduced price. It was initially reported that Arsenal will give up their pursuit of the player but now the imminent transfer of Marc Roca may change things.

If Roca gets signed, Atletico Madrid would be more willing to let Partey go, although he will not come cheap for the Gunners.

Partey made over 40 appearances for Arsenal last season.
