Former Black Stars striker and scout Augustine Arhinful says the Black Stars failure to end a 30-year wait for a trophy at AFCON 2017 did not come as a surprise because their performances were poor.

Arhinful says Ghana's failure was inevitable given how they progressed to the semi-final stage without brilliant performances.

Ghana’s dream of ending a 35 year wait for the AFCON title suffered a huge blow on Thursday after Cameroon defeated the Black Stars 2-0 in the second semi- final game in Franceville, Gabon.

Two second-half goals from defender Michael Ngadieu and a late strike from Christian Bassagog ensured that the Cameroonians set up a date with Egypt in the finals.

Speaking to Nii Arday Clegg on the Morning Starr, Arhinful insists the Black Stars struggled to perform since the start of the competition.

“Surprise, i wasn’t because truth be told we have not performed that well ”

“We know this team to be a good team but we haven’t performed well in this tournament so i wasn’t surprised,” he told Starr FM

“I would have been surprised if we had played that well and lost so surprised,no,” he added
