Barcelona & Real Madrid Set to Do Battle in Overseas 'El Clasico' This Summer

One of the greatest and most star-studded games in world football is set to be turned into a exhibition match this summer.

Spanish ESPN show 'Jorge Ramos y su Banda' have confirmed that a non-competitive'El Clasico' will be played in the USA during thissummer.

Stars such as Messi, Suarez and Balecould well beon show in the exhibition game, but not Cristiano Ronaldo, who will be on international duty at the Confederations Cup.

The match will take place in Miami whichhas likely been selected due to it'shigh Hispanic population, many ofwhom are huge football fans.

The friendly willbe the first time since 1982 that 'El Clasico' has taken place outside of Spain, and will see the first non-competitive meeting between to two since 1991.

The game is believed to be of huge commercial and financial value to the sides, and will likely contain pre-match and halftime shows.

America has become a growing market for European teams, with sides like Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and AC Milanamongst the many teasto haverecently held pre-seasonfriendlies there.

The two great Spanish rivals look set to once again compete for La Liga title thisseason, although Real Madrid have a huge advantage over their old foes.

The side from the Spanish capital are currently a point ahead ofBarcelona. Yet Los Blancos have currently played two games lessthan the Catalan side, meaning the gap could be pushed to seven points if they win their games in hand.

Both sides also return to Champions League action this week. Barcelona travel to France to face PSGon Tuesday night, whilst the following evening sees Real hostNapoli.
