Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski insists he is looking to create his own legacy at the club, despite recent comparisons being made between himself andthe legendary Gerd Muller.

The Polish international has been in red-hot form over the last few weeks and bagged himself a hat-trick in Bayern's resounding 8-0 triumph over Hamburg on Saturday. With his season tally currently standing at 28 goals in all competitions, Lewandowski could well surpass his impressive total of 50 from last year.

Asthe forward appears to beback to his best in front of goal,Bayern's chief executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, recently compared Lewandowski to club legend Gerd Muller, who is not only the Bavarians all-time record goalscorer, but also the best theBundesliga has ever seen with over 350 goals.

Whilst Bayern's current talisman is a long way off matching that record, headmits that though heis delighted to be likened to the legendary Muller, he is looking to create hisown piece of history at the Allianz Arena.

"Comparisons with players who played 20 or 30 years ago are difficult," Lewandowski told the Bundesliga's official website (as quoted byFourFourTwo).

"I'm glad when I hear I'm on a par with Gerd Muller or other great Bayern strikers, but I write my own history and I want to show something new and do something that others haven't done yet."

Having inspired Carlo Ancelotti's men to yet another crushing victory over Hamburg, Lewandowski and his teammates will turn their attentions to this weekend's trip to Cologne, where Bayern will hope to extend their already healthy five-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga.
