Be mindful of how you report issues on the Black Stars – Saani Daara to Ghanaian media

Renowned communicator and journalist, Saani Daara has advised the Ghanaian media to be mindful of how issues relating to the Black Stars are reported.

This follows a conversation raised by comments made by Ghana FA Executive Committee member George Amoako on how Ghanaian players born abroad often turn down the chance to play for the Black Stars.

According to the former Asante Kotoko CEO, negative stories these players read and hear of forces them to choose other countries over Ghana.

Siding with George Amoako in an interview with Nhyira FM, Saani Daara has cautioned Ghanaian journalists to be wary of how they report issues relating to the national team.

“We must be mindful of what we say because it has an effect on the mentality of these players who are born and raised in the Diaspora. And I side with George Amoako on our reportage to the outside community about the national team”, the former Communications Director of the GFA said.

He continued, “Some of these players love Ghana within. Jerome Boateng has an African map with Ghana highlighted tattooed on his shoulder and has his local Ghanaian name Agyenim written on his body. Timothy Fosu-Mensah who plays for the Netherlands has the Ghana flag on his boots whenever he plays. It is our duty to find a way of convincing them to do away with the negative stories they have heard from the national team”.

It is understood that the Ghana FA is in talks to convince players such as Tariq Lamptey, Elisha Owusu, Alexander Djiku, Francis Amuzu, and a few others to play for the Black Stars.
