Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara has admitted Bechem United were the better side despite securing an all-important win over them to survive relegation.

The 2023/24 Premier League season officially came to an end on Sunday, June 16, 2024, with Samartex emerging as winners.

The Phobians retained their top-flight status after a crucial 3-2 victory over Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Sunday.

Entering the final day in 15th place with 42 points, just above the relegation zone, the Phobians needed a win to ensure their safety.

This win lifted the Phobians to 14th place on the table, firmly securing their escape from relegation despite earlier fears.

Speaking after the game, the Ivorian trainer admitted Bechem United were the better side despite picking win over them.

“We weren’t interested in possession considering our position. We needed goals to survive and we achieved our aim. All goals were scored by defenders and that is what I needed”

“It was a very tough game. Our opponent were better than us but we just score and won” he said.
