Bernard Don Bortey still thinks of his failed move to Dubai in 2002

Former Ghana player Bernard Don Bortey says he still regrets his failed move to Dubai in 2002.

Don Bortey in his peak for Ghana and Hearts received a very lucrative deal but overlooked it.

In a recent interview with Kumasi-based Silver FM, Bortey spoke about his regret for not taking the move.

“In 2002 I was in Dubai. Imagine at that time how highly rated I was. I had not even celebrated my 18th birthday but there was big clubs after me.” Don Bortey revealed to in an exclusive interview.

“The likes of George Weah were playing at that time and so to get that move was something great.”

“If Hearts of Oak had allowed me to go I would have been much richer today but I always give thanks to God for the talent he gave me. I never know what would have happened if I had been richer” the former Confederation Cup winner said.

Meanwhile Don Bortey has not lost hope as he plans to go into coaching after retiring from the game.

“Maybe God has a bigger plan for me that I may become rich as a coach or as a big scout. You never know but I thank God always” a motivated Bortey added.

The former GHAPOHA prodigy is widely accepted as one of Ghana’s most talented players.
