A staggering 14 players were released by Young Africans Sports Club as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Among those released are former Gor Mahia striker Yikpe Gnamien who was sparingly used last season as well as former Mbabane Swallows defensive midfielder Papy Tshishimbi.

Other players who have been shipped out are striker David Molinga, Mrisho Ngassa, Jafary Mohamed, Mohamed Issa Banka, Tariq Seif, Andrew Vincent Dante, Rwandese Patrick Sibomana, Muharami Issa, Ali Ali, Rafael Daud, Ali Mtoni Sonso and Eric Kabamba.

According to Young Africans Sports Club media officer, Hassan Bumbuli the club is keen on bringing on capable replacements.

“We have parted ways with 14 players and the coaches are already in the market looking for several players to sign before the window closes,” he said.

Ghanaian forward Bernard Morrison is among seventeen players who have remained in the team.

The former Ashgold player joined Young Africans six months ago after leaving DR Congo side DC Motema Pembe after failing to command a regular starting position.

The forward was then lured to Young Africans by Luc Eymael, who was fired last week after his alleged racial slurs went viral on social media.

His stay at the Tanzanian side has so far marred with controversies with the latest offence being an arrest after he was allegedly caught in possession of illegal narcotics.

The club’s transfer exodus comes after last season’s second-place finish, sixteen points behind leaders Simba.

Young Africans is reported to have enlisted the services of four players and are nearing the completion of signing three more to beef up the areas identified by the technical bench.

Among the players set to join the club is AS Vita duo of striker Makusu Mundele and Tuisila Kisinda.
