Black Meteors to take on Egypt in a pre-U-23 AFCON friendly today

The Black Meteors of Ghana will take on Egypt in a friendly later today as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana's U-23 side are currently in Cairo to prepare for the upcoming tournament that has been scheduled to be staged in Morocco.

The Black Meteors will take on the defending African U23 Champions, Egypt at the Alexandria Stadium.

The team will also take on an Egyptian Club side in a test game before travelling to Morocco for the tournament.

After years of absence from the Olympic Men's Soccer event, Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his charges are poised to break the jinx and seal a slot to compete in next year's Olympics Games which will be staged in Paris, France.

Meanwhile, twenty-four players took part in Wednesday's session.

Ernest Nuamah, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer and Kamaldeen Sulemana who are with the Black Stars will join the Black Meteors camp in Egypt after Sunday's AFCON qualifier between Madagascar vs Ghana.

The U23 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2023 will take place between 24 June to 08 July 2023 in the cities of Rabat and Tangier.

Group A matches will be held at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex while Group B matches will take place at the Grand Stade de Tanger, in Tangier.

The first three nations will get their ticket for the Summer Olympics in 2024.
