Ghana's Under-20 team coach, Desmond Offei, remains steadfast in his conviction that the Black Satellites are only scratching the surface of their potential following their triumph in clinching the gold medal at the African Games.

In a fiercely contested match, Jerry Afriyie's dramatic last-minute goal against Uganda secured victory for the Satellites, crowning them champions of the men's football competition.

Since their 2021 victory in the Africa U20 championship, Ghana had encountered difficulties in qualifying for subsequent tournaments. Desmond Offei assumed the role of coach in September 2023, aiming to rejuvenate the team.

Drawing from Ghana's football heritage and principles, the former Lokeren U21 coach assembled a fresh squad, emphasizing talent, dedication, and a hunger to showcase their abilities for the nation.

Speaking after the game, Offei emphasized the rigorous selection process undertaken to ensure only the finest players represented Ghana.

He stressed the importance of aligning the team's vision with the national football ethos, laying the foundation for their success.

"This victory not only bolsters our efforts to instil a new football philosophy and identity but also serves as a springboard for further progress," Offei remarked.

"We recognize there's much work ahead, but this triumph marks just the outset of our journey," he added.

With determination and a clear vision, Offei and his team are poised to propel Ghanaian football to greater heights, building on their recent success at the African Games.
