The senior national team, the Black Stars have been handed a boost ahead of AFCON 2017 with the return to fitness of skipper Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan, 31, missed the last three games of his side Al Ahli in the UAE against Al Dhafra, Al Wasl and Al-Wahda.

He joined his Ahli teammates on Tuesday for an intense group training session.

Gyan lasted the full duration of the training and is now in line to face Sharjah in a league game on Friday.

His return will come as welcome relief to Black Stars Coach Avram Grant who will be counting on Ghana's record scorer to end the 34-year wait for a trophy.
