Board Chairman of Bofoakwa Tano FC, Yaw Boateng Gyan has apologized to Nsoatreman FC head coach, Maxwell Konadu following the assault by the fans.

Konadu was manhandled by the fans of Bofoakwa Tano in their matchday 11 game at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

The former Black Stars assistant coach was left unconscious following the attack and was admitted to the Sunyani Hospital but was discharged the following day.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) have banned the Sunyani Coronation Park. A suspect was also arrested by the Ghana Police Service after confirming they were on a manhunt to arrest the perpetrators.

However, Mr Boateng Gyan in an interview condemned the attack and apologized to Maxwell Konadu.

“For me, we are all playing and to physically assault someone should have you face the full rigours of the law to serve as a deterrent,” he told Onua FM.

He revealed that Maxwell Konadu, being a fellow Bono compatriot from Nkoranza, could not have made the statements attributed to him, which allegedly provoked the attack.

Addressing Maxwell Konadu’s familiarity with Sunyani, he stated, “He Maxwell [Konadu] is not a child in Sunyani, he has played football and travelled there several times and has so many friends there, so he can help identify some of the victims.”
