A Bolivian football team were denied a league title after a mass brawl broke out late in a title-deciding match.

Bolivar had almost secured the Apertura trophy as the game ticked towards its conclusion, but an incredible spell of stoppage time saw their opponents Sport Boysnet a dramatic winner.

Five red cards were dished out as both sides lost their collective heads and a fight broke out, with coaches also getting in on the action.

The scrap emerged due to a tackle from Sport Boys' Cristian Coimbra, who was dismissed alongside teammates Jherson Cordoba and Alejandro Melean, while Bolivar's Juan Carlos Arce and Gaston Cellerino were also given their marching orders for their roles in the ugly scenes.

Hopefuls champions Bolivar were a man to the good, but were left with the difficult proposition of fighting through a mammoth 10 minutes of added time, a proposition which was ultimately too much for the side.

Their fans were already celebrating the league victory, with Bolivar needing just a draw to secure their triumph in the competition, but a late strike from Boys'Carlos Eduardo Vargas means Bolivar will now take part in a winner-takes-all playoff to decide the league winners.
