Bookies Take Bets on Next Barcelona Manager and There's One Hilarious Candidate

Published on: 01 March 2017

In the wake of Luis Enrique's announcement that he will be leaving the Barcelona managerial post at the end of the season, the internet has been awash with rumours of his replacement.

As one of the most high-profile and no doubt stressfulpositions in world football, the Barca manager's job calls for an individual who knows how to win at the highest level. Someone who can get the team playing with pizzazz and fluidity. Someone who can navigate their way through the Champions League, casting aside other European heavyweights at will (this season not included, obviously).

All that said then, it's probably safe to assume that there are some highly credible candidates for the job in the eyes of the bookmakers. Right? Wrong, sovery verywrong.

With any "potential next manager" odds lists, there's usually the odd eyebrow-raiser - for example, David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and even Tim Sherwood have been given odds to replace Enrique at Barca.

But hilariously, Sky Sports' Spanish correspondent Guillem Balague has been given astronomical odds of 500/1 by Paddy Power to take the reigns at the Nou Camp. That's Guillem Balague, as in the journalist. The one with no managerial experience whatsoever. He's been given actual odds. To manage Barcelona.

What's more, Balague is an avid Espanyol fan, only Barcelona's local rivals, meaning any chance he was in the frame (so, no chance then) is probably out the window.

The journalist, who also works for talkSPORT and Spanish paper AS, responded to the odds bestowed onto him on Twitter when user @Chrisdavies1966 informed him...

Even though we know Paddy Power's game, that's enough Internet for today.
