CAF Confederation Cup: Dreams FC must double efforts against Zamalek – Joe Okyere

Former Zamalek midfielder Joe Okyere is urging Dreams FC to double efforts to edge out the Egyptian powerhouse to progress to the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Still Believe lads will tackle the 2019 champions at the Baba Yara Stadium in the return fixture of the semifinals after securing an important draw at the CAIRO International Stadium last weekend.

The Ghana FA Cup holders will go into the clash with the advantage after 0-0 draw outcome in Egypt.

Speaking to Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com, Joe Okyere, who is a former player of Kotoko entreated Dreams FC to double their effort if they are qualify at the expense of Zamalek.

“I’ve played for Zamalek before and I know the strategies they use in playing away games. I will advise Dreams FC not to be complacent against Zamalek because they can take them by surprise”

“Karim Zito saw them play in Cairo but he should guide against complacency because it’s going to be tough. They are good when it comes to set pieces. Although, they secured an important draw at away but they are not done yet. I will urge them to double their effort in Kumasi to qualify” he said.

Zamalek arrived in Kumasi on Thursday with a chartered flight to continue their preparation for the crucial encounter.

The Egyptian outfit will train at the match venue 24 hours before kickoff as mandated by the competition's rule and regulations.

The match holds immense significance for Dreams FC, as they aim to become the first Ghanaian side in two decades to reach the final of the Confederation Cup. The last time a Ghanaian team achieved this feat was in 2004 when Hearts of Oak and Kotoko faced off in the final, with Hearts emerging victorious.
