Bournemouth Stand Top of the Premier League But Not for Reasons That They Would Hope for

Bournemouth have been the most unfortunate Premier League side in front of goal so far this season, according to a report fromThe Sun.

Whether the likes of Callum Wilson and Josh King are to blame for not being clinical enough, or if it's just down to luck, the Cherries have hit the woodwork a staggering 12 times, so far this season, striking the frame of the goal just over once a game on average.

Following behind in a three-way tie forsecond are title rivals Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur with seven attempts each bothering the woodwork.

Both the Gunners and Spurs increased their tallies on Sunday during the North London derby, with Christian Eriksen hitting the post from a free kick in the second-half, after Theo Walcott had struck the bar during the first period.

Liverpool have already scored 30 league goals this season, so their tally of six is unlikely to bother Jurgen Klopp too much, while Manchester United could have picked up a few more extra points had their five ill-fated efforts on goal crept in.

At the other end of the spectrum, league strugglers Sunderland have no one but themselves to blame for their inability in front of goal, having not seen any efforts hit the woodwork so far thisseason. The Black Cats have scored the least amount of goals out of Premier League sides all season with nine, but two of those did come at the weekend during their 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Fellow relegation battlers Swansea have seen three efforts rebound of the post or crossbar, while Hull City have been unfortunate with just two of their shots ongoal this season.
