Portuguese Primeira Liga side SC Braga have signed Belgium-born Ghanaian youngster Pierre Dwomoh Jr. from Royal Antwerp.

Dwomoh Jr. joins the club on a season-long loan, however, Braga have an option to buy the 18-year-old for a fee around €1 million when the loan expires in June next year.

The highly-rated midfielder featured in 14 games last season for Royal Antwerp - nine in the Belgian League, one in the Belgian Cup and four in the Europa League.

"I arrived and signed a little late, but I am very happy to be here. I've always seen Portugal as a country that likes technically good players and I'm ready to show what I'm capable of," Dwomoh Jr. said as quoted by the club's official website.

"SC Braga is a great Club. The stadium is huge, very beautiful and I really liked the quarry. I work to be one of the best, that's what I hope one day. Playing for a club like SC Braga will help me to achieve that goal”.

He added, "The Europa League is a high-level competition, I played against teams like Fenerbahçe SK and Eintracht Frankfurt. At first it was an adaptation to the European competition, but then I really liked it. After the Champions League, the Europa League is the most demanding competition."

Dwomoh Jr. joined Antwerp in August 2021 from KRC Genk in the deal which was worth around €2 million.

He has previously been through the youth ranks at KV Mechelen, Anderlecht and Genk.

He has represented Belgium's U15, U17 and U18 sides, making a combined 12 appearances and scoring three goals.

Dwomoh Jr. is eligible to represent the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars.
