Brighton Agree £8m Fee With Tottenham for Midfielder Alex Pritchard

Brighton and Hove Albion have moved a step closer to signing Tottenham's Alex Pritchard after seeing an £8m offer accepted for the midfielder.

Sky Sports claims that Pritchard is set to discuss terms with the Gulls after Tottenham deemed their offer significant enough.

However, Brighton may still face competition for Pritchard's signature, with Queens Park Rangers also in discussions with Spurs over a deal for the 23-year-old.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton is keen to bring Pritchard to the South coast after working with him during his time at White Hart Lane.

Hughton attempted to sign Pritchard on loan during the January transfer window, but failed in his bid to entice the attacking midfielder to the Falmer stadium.

The Orsett-born footballer could now ply his trade in the Championship next season, though, if he can agree personal terms with Brighton.

Pritchard has been on Tottenham's books since a 2009 summer switch from West Ham United's academy.

The playmaker has seen the vast majority of his first-team appearances come in the form of loan spells at lower league clubs in England.

Pritchard spent the second half of the 2012/13 season on loan at Peterborough, amassing six appearances before returning to London.

A season-long loan to League One side Swindon Town following in July 2013.

Pritchard made 44 appearances for Swindon before making his senior Tottenham bow on the final day against Aston Villa.

Pritchard was shipped out on a 12 month loan to Brentford two months later, and helped the Bees reach the 2014/15 Championship play-offs with 12 goals in 47 games.

A final loan spell at West Bromwich Albion was taken in last term, but the winger featured just three times for Tony Pulis' outfit during a six month spell at the Hawthorns.
