Brighton News: Krul warns teammates to stay grounded; Stephens backed for more

Published on: 16 November 2017

Brighton goalkeeper Tim Krul has warned teammates not to get carried away with their bright season so far.

The Seagulls will stay eighth after 12 games if they beat Stoke at the Amex on Monday night.

Krul told the Argus: “You can't get carried away.

“I remember a few years ago with Blackpool. They were top of the league for a while with Ian Holloway and they got relegated.

“The season is so long. In January you have played everyone, you can kind of see where you are at.

“At the moment you haven't played everyone yet.

“After 38 games everything levels out and you deserve to be where you finish."

Meanwhile, Luton boss Nathan Jones is backing Dale Stephens to take his game to a new level later this season.

Jones was Seagulls assistant manager when Stephens arrived.

He told The Argus: “Dale has been a Premier League player for years.

“It has taken time for him to get there.

“But it is no surprise to me that he is in the Premier League and not just in there but having an impact on the league.

“He can do everything you want of a midfielder.

"He can tackle, he has a nasty streak which you need but which perhaps people don't see, he can head it, he can get box to box and he was always a Premier League player.

“There's so much more to come from him."
