CAF Champions League: Al Ahly to arrive in Ghana on Wednesday ahead of Medeama showdown

Published on: 21 February 2024

Egyptian giants Al Ahly will arrive in Ghana today ahead of their penultimate CAF Champions League game against Medeama.

The Yellow and Mauves will play host to the biggest club in Africa at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, February 23, 2024.

The record African champions will leave Cairo on Wednesday for Accra before leaving for Kumasi on Friday in Kumasi.

The Egyptian giants sit top of Group D with six points after their goalless draw with Algerian side CD Belouizdad last week.

A win for Al Ahly could propel them to secure qualification to the next stage of the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Medeama are aiming to upset Al Ahly as they seek to secure maximum points in the crucial encounter. A win for the Yellow and Mauves could boost their chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition.

Al Ahly has been boosted by the return of South Africa star Percy Tau ahead of their trip to Ghana. He trained with the rest of his teammates on Monday and Tuesday at Al Ahly complex in Gezira after returning from the AFCON 2023.

Tau played a huge role in helping the Bafana Bafana finish third at the just-ended continental showpiece held in Ivory Coast.

Also joining the South Africans are Wessam Abou Ali and Ahmed Nabil Kouka, who are both recovering from an injury.
