Published on: 17 October 2021

Hearts of Oak on Sunday, October 17, 2021, defeated Wydad AC 1-0 in the CAF Champions League.

At the end of a hard-fought victory, the footballghana.com team brings to you the player ratings for the Hearts of Oak team.

Richard Attah (G) – 7/10

Called into action in the early parts of the match, the highly-rated shot-stopper came out tops as he denied the visitors on multiple occasions to keep the team in the game.

In addition to the impressive organisation of his team’s defense, Richard Attah deservedly merits a 7/10 rating.

Fatawu Mohammed © - 7/10

The Hearts of Oak captain had a lot of running to do today to help his team defend while enforcing the attack of his team. He receives a 7/10 rating for his solid display today.

Raddy Ovouka – 4/10

The Congolese defender started the match very strongly although he was not fully fit. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury setback and had to come off in the 22nd minute of the first half.

For his commendable efforts, he gets a 4/10 rating.

Robert Addo Sowah – 6/70

Not really tested in the 90 minutes he played but when it was necessary, he intervened to clear the lines for Hearts of Oak. A good display from the defender against a dangerous opponent.

Mohammed Alhassan – 7/10

The centre-back was solid at the back and made several clearances in the first half. His command of the back four was impressive as he helped Hearts of Oak to keep a clean sheet.

Emmanuel Nettey – 7.5/10

Another midfield masterclass from the experienced midfielder. Nettey had to work a lot in the first half and stepped up to win Hearts of Oak the battle in midfield.

His passing was good today as he initiated a number of attacks for the home team.

Fredrick Ansah Botwe - 6/10

A mostly silent afternoon for the Hearts of Oak midfielder. He didn’t do much although he at times initiated attacks for his team. He lasted 69 minutes of the action and bowed out with a rating of 6/10 for his efforts.

Salifu Ibrahim – 7/10

The midfielder struggled to play his game in the first 15 minutes of the match as he was constantly forced off the ball.

Later after the half-hour mark, he finally found his feet and exerted his authority in the attack of his team.

He almost scored but saw his effort well-saved by the Wydad SC goalkeeper before he assisted Isaac Mensah to score in the 40th minute to shoot Hearts of Oak into the lead.

He could have done better in the second half though.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh – 7/10

Always running into space to cause trouble for the defense of the visitors, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh linked up play nicely with his players to make things happen for the home team.

He was brought down in the penalty box and could have won a penalty kick for his team but for some reason, the referee decided not to give it.

Due to additional work on and off the ball in the second half, he receives a 7/10 rating.

Kofi Kordzi – 7.5/10

With another strong display today, Kofi Kordzi once again showed why he is an important player for Hearts of Oak. His link-up play with Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was good but not the best. A 6.5/10 rating is very fair.

Isaac Mensah – 7/10

The forward netted the only goal of the match in the first half after getting on the end of a precise cross from Salifu Ibrahim. Besides that, his impact was not really felt in the time he spent on the pitch. A rating of 7/10 is more than enough.

Substitutes:

William Dankyi – 5/10

Replaced Raddy Ovouka in the 22nd minute of the first half but didn’t really impact the game. His crosses in the second half could have resulted in a goal if they were better. A rating of 5 for the full-back.

Salim Adams -3/10

Came in late in the second half to help the team with his energy. The 18-year-old did well but not enough to influence the result in any way. A rating of 3/10 is enough for the talented teenager.

Asubonteng – N/A

Agyenim Boateng – N/A

Victor Aidoo – N/A
