CAF Champions League: Medeama to travel with 21-players to Egypt for Al Ahly showdown

Medeama will leave for Egypt on Wednesday afternoon ahead their CAF Champions League group stage opener against giants, Al Ahly.

The record Champions League holders will host the Ghanaian champions at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo this weekend.

The team will fly to Egypt with a with twenty-one players and 11 backroom staff for the clash against Al Ahly.

Young goalkeeper Abdul Adams Jabal joins Felix Kyei as the goalkeepers travelling to Egypt for the Group D opener.

The team has been boosted by the return of Black Stars trio of Jonathan Sowah, Fatawu Hamidu and Nurudeen Abdulai. The trio arrived in Ghana on Wednesday and have already joined their teammates for the trip today.

Sowah made his competitive debut for the Black Stars in the World Cup qualifier against Comoros after coming on as a late substitute in the game.

Meanwhile, Hamidu and Abdulai watched from the bench as Ghana succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the Moroni Stadium.

Medeama are aiming for a flying start to the group stage campaign as they take on giants Al Ahly.

The Tarkwa-based club made it to the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history after eliminating Remo Stars and Horoya AC of Nigeria and Guinea respectively.

The Mauve and Yellow will also face Young Africans of Tanzania and CD Belouizdad of Algeria in Group D of the competition.
